A Family Secret Written in the Moon

Bransin Anderson
US

At the age of thirty-nine, in late August 2025, I discovered through a DNA test that my youngest brother is actually my half-brother.

My mother had an affair and gave birth to him on her own birthday, March 2.

I was born the next day, March 3.

On my fortieth birthday, March 3, 2026, it was Purim. Erev Purim fell on March 2, and Purim fell on March 3. Purim is the Jewish holiday centered on revealing what has been hidden.

That same birthday was also marked by a blood moon at 3:33 PST.

The birthday pattern, the family secret, Purim’s theme of hidden truth being revealed, and the timing of the blood moon all converged in a way that felt impossible to ignore.

By one calculation, the odds of the family birthday pattern aligning with Purim and the blood moon were approximately:

0.0000017% — roughly 1 in 58 million

The math:

Family birthday pattern × Purim/blood-moon alignment
0.000007506 × 0.00233 ≈ 0.00000001749
0.00000001749 × 100 ≈ 0.000001749%

Rounded: 0.0000017%

The numbers suggest an extraordinarily unlikely cluster. But beyond the probability, the symbolic meaning is what struck me most: a hidden family truth came to light just before my fortieth birthday, which fell on Purim, the holiday of revealing the hidden.
