Meeting Lakshmi Again, After 60 Years
I recently moved to Vermont, and was invited to the cabin in the woods of a friend of a friend from California. My friend’s friend, Lakshmi, was from India, where I lived almost 60 years ago – on the campus of an Institute.
In the course of the evening, we discovered that she had been the little girl next door at that exact home, and was a playmate to my daughter, more than half a century earlier. When Lakshmi’s mother visited just 2 weeks later, we recognized one another immediately, and when my daughter came up to visit, she and Lakshmi knew one another right away — after 60 years.
From Kanpur, India to Brookline, Vermont after half a century! Lakshmi and I are now fast friends.
