A Temple, a Club, and the Cosmic Coincidence

My ex is three years older than me. We met through an online dating site. He’s a really handsome guy and a total party lover. We live in Delhi, North India—the capital, where the nightlife is exquisite. Things were great in the beginning, but later turned rocky. We’d go silent for days, then meet again, and then the silence would return.

The first coincidence:
After one of our breakups, we hadn’t spoken for many days. He works as cabin crew, so he often travels to different cities and countries. For several nights, I dreamed that he and I were standing together in the great Padmanabhaswamy Temple, dressed in traditional South Indian attire, praying before Lord Vishnu—almost like husband and wife.

Two days later, I saw his WhatsApp status, and if you can believe it—because I couldn’t—he had visited the same temple, wearing the same color clothes, exactly as in my dream. The floor just swept out from under me.

The second coincidence:
It had been more than three months since we last spoke or saw each other. One Saturday night, I went out clubbing with friends. That evening, for the second time, I told my friend I was scared of what would happen if I ever saw him again. Just a week earlier, I’d said the same thing.

The club was packed—it was the weekend, loud and crowded. After half an hour inside, I stepped out into the small lobby to make a call. I sat down on a sofa, and within seconds, I saw him walking in. He was right there in front of me. My heart nearly stopped. I rushed out of the club in shock.

To this day, I can’t believe it. Anything could have changed that moment—I might not have stepped out, might not have made a call just then, might have stayed home, or even if he had come to the same club, we could’ve been on opposite ends and never seen each other. It was so crowded, and my eyesight isn’t great without specs, so for him to end up exactly where I could see him clearly—it shook me to the core.

It made me wonder: do coincidences exist beyond the reach of our consciousness, touching something truly cosmic?
