I recently reached out to a high school friend I hadn’t spoken to since the mid-1980s. I found him on LinkedIn and saw he was now a physician in North Carolina. I sent him a quick message through the app.
Later that afternoon, he replied.
He said, “You’re not going to believe this. I had a 66-year-old patient named Matthew Sullivan scheduled today. He no-showed. And while I was thinking about you, your message came through.”
