The Sewer Line Synchronicity

For a couple of weeks, our shower kept backing up, sometimes with sewage in it. We did everything we could ourselves before finally calling a plumber to run a snake through the sewer line. But even after that, it kept happening. We were at our wit’s end.

Then, in the middle of the day, I got an unexpected knock at the door. Three guys were there from a contractor hired to check the sewer lines in our neighborhood. They had a snake so big it ran off the back of a pickup truck, with a camera and GPS on the end of it.

They were able to run it farther than the plumber had and found the problem right where the house line met the city line. Mineral deposits had built up at the junction, and toilet paper was catching there and creating the backup.

Using the GPS detector, they pinpointed the exact spot. So I got out my shovel and had the plumber come back to fix the junction.
