Living in London in my early twenties, I had a much older mentor who was a PhD biochemist. He had made some major breakthrough, although I never really understood it. He taught me that “if we let things happen, then they will.”
At the time, I was writing a lot of poetry. To get it published, I needed a typewriter, but I could not afford one.
One day, I spontaneously decided to visit my friend. He refused to own a phone, so I had no way to let him know I was coming. It was a long trip across London, including a transfer to a regular rail line that took me to his station in East London.
As I left the station, my friend pulled up in his Mini at that exact moment. He saw me, wound down the window, and said, “There you are! I’ve got a typewriter in the back for you!”
That synchronicity certainly opened my mind to the existence of a very different universe. I have now been a full-time minister in a metaphysical church for forty years.
