At a thrift store, I thought about a recent find there—The Book of Thoth—which I’d first heard about on Bernie Beitman’s Connecting with Coincidence podcast. This time, though, I didn’t spot any book I wanted.
Back on the road, the first car in front of me had a license plate frame that read Quantum Entanglement. What? I’ve heard Bernie and his guests talk about that concept so many times!
Next stop: the library to pick up a book I had on hold, On Looking: Eleven Walks with Expert Eyes. Near the entrance was a community puzzle, so I worked on it for a bit. The librarian noticed my “Library Love” jacket, snapped some photos of me for their social media—some looking at the camera, some bent over the puzzle. I was glad I’d put on eye makeup at the last minute.
Back in the car, the radio played an old Eurythmics song with the lyric: “Everybody’s looking for something.” Later that night, a comedian joked, “At least she had on mascara.”
From the thrift store to the road, the library, the song, and even the comedy show—the whole day was threaded with looking and eyes. Glad I was paying attention.
