I Felt My Mom Before I Saw Her

Vera Burdick
NL

I’ve felt my mom’s presence from a distance at least twice in my life.

I live in the Netherlands now, but this happened years ago in another country.

One day, I lost a filling and was trying to get a dentist appointment. My regular dentist wasn’t available, so I booked with my backup dentist. The appointment was sometime around 3:00 p.m. I’m not exactly sure of the time.

As I came out of the subway and walked up the stairs, I suddenly had a strong feeling that my mom was nearby. The best way I can describe it is as an inner knowing. It wasn’t something I saw or heard. It was just a very clear feeling from inside that she was close.

As I walked toward the dentist’s office, the feeling kept getting stronger. The office was a couple of blocks away. On the way there, I passed a toy store, and I had to walk around the corner of the building to reach the dentist.

Right before turning the corner, I remember thinking, I’m about to see my mom.

The moment I turned the corner, there she was, walking away from the dentist’s office.

I said, “Mom! I felt you!”

She said, “You’re a f***ing psychic. Why don’t I ever feel anything?”

She had no idea I had an appointment that day. Her appointment had been at 2:00 p.m. that same afternoon. We had scheduled them completely independently and didn’t know about each other’s appointments at all.

So the scheduling was pure coincidence. But the feeling I had definitely didn’t feel like a coincidence. I’m convinced I sensed my mom’s presence from at least 500 meters away.

And this wasn’t the only time I’ve experienced something like that. There have been other strange moments when I somehow sensed my mom’s presence.
