I moved from Paducah, Kentucky, to Dayton, Ohio, in 1997. Back in Paducah, I’d known an older woman named Juanita Wood. We lived together for about two years before parting ways, and eventually, I moved again—this time to Houston, Texas.
In 2004, I started cleaning gutters for a living. One day, I met a couple whose last name was almost the same as Juanita’s, just missing the s at the end. We got to talking, and I learned they had also moved to Texas from Paducah.
Then came the surprise: inside their house were photos of Juanita and all her kids!
What are the odds? Out of all the homes in Houston, I’d ended up at the one with pictures of someone I once lived with. 😀
