I had been thinking about how much I wanted to own a copy of a New York Times cookbook that was about soups and breads, but didn’t want to spend money to buy a new book or pay the monthly fee to be a digital New York Times subscriber.
I was taking my usual daily walk in Vermont and passed a book kiosk, so I opened it up to look at what books were offered, but none caught my interest. I continued my two-mile walk, and when I passed the kiosk again, something told me to look once more.
There was a New York Times cookbook in good condition by one of their columnists, featuring hundreds of recipes for only soups and breads.
